My Windows 2000 quick launch ( win 2k quicklaunch) icons have disappeared and right clicking where they used to be does nothing..... AND MAYBE If you also right click in the system tray the quick launch and other options are greyed out?
I googled for a long time before I solved this, I still don't really know what went wrong BUT this fixed it for me.....
OK, this loss of quick launch icons might have something to do with installing and (possibly also) 'dicking around' with the settings in FreshUi? http://www.freshdevices.com/freshui.html a killer app with the ability to kill a few of the usual functions of your desktop if you are not careful
BEFORE you use it ( Argh!!! too late) save the existing settings as it is supposed to save an "original" setting file on first use BUT DID NOT for me!!!!
My answer to this ( after googling) was to delete the registry entry relating to the classic view for Internet Explorer http://www.dewassoc.com/support/useful/registry/quicklaunchicons.htm
use regedit ( Start > Run >Regedit) and CAREFULLY remove
AFTER backing up your registry somewhere via EXPORT
After a relog on it still seems to work even though this entry is now missing... but my quick lauch icons are there...click on the image to see how my registry looks AFTER the deletion.....
D:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
D:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
What is the difference ( the two directories have different icons in them, the first is my 'Real' list)....
